How to prevent bullying in schools
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.
In schools, teacher's, Principals,HODs etc. needs to pay attention to students when it comes to bullying.
Teacher's need to practice active listening which allows them convey that their classroom is a safe place, but also model behavior that is accepting and kind. This provides students with a positive example of how to treat others or potentially handle difficult situations if they arise.
They also need to teach their learners about empathy, which is the ability to put themselves in someone else’s shoes, and teachers need to embed this skill into their curriculum
Teacher's should also empower their students to break the cycle of bullying. One of the most effective ways to prevent bullying in schools is to empower students to break the cycle by teaching them ways to confront bullying behavior.
